Thessalonica. Aesillas. Quaestor. c. 90-70 BC. Tetradrachm, 16.39gg. (12h). Obv: ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ Head of Alexander the Great right, with horn of Ammon; behind head, Θ. Rx: Vertical club, flanked by cista and quaestor's sella; above, AESILLAS and Q; all within laurel wreath. SNG Fitzwilliam 2348 (same dies). Fischer O12/R25. This a very common issue, but rarely found in such a beautiful example. Struck in high relief with complete legend below head of Alexander. Slight porosity on reverse edge from 4:00-6:00, otherwise Mint State..
