Seleucid Kingdom, Demetrius III. 97/6-88/7 BC. Tetradrachm, 16.19gg. (12h). Damascus, Year 219=95/4 BC. Obv: Diademed head of Demetrius III right with fringe of curly beard at jawline; fillet border. Rx: BACIËEÙC / ÄHMHTPIOV / ÈEOV in three lines on right, ÖIËOÐATOPOC / CÙTHPOC in two lines on left, Cult statue of Atargatis standing facing, holding flower in left hand, grain stalk rising from each shoulder; in left field, N above OTA monogram; in exergue, date È[IÓ] followed by HÄ monogram; all within laurel wreath. SC 2450.8. SNG Spaer 2854 (same dies). Hoover, Houghton, and Vesely, The Silver Mint of Damascus, AJN 20, 2008, p. 330, 51-52, pl. 74 (A8/P46-7; P46 and P47 seem to be the same reverse die).
