Macedonian Kingdom, Alexander III The Great. 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm, 16.68gg. (12h). Mesembria, c. 175-125 BC. Obv: Head of Heracles right wearing lion-skin headdress. Rx: BAÓIËEÙ[Ó] on right, [A]ËEÎANÄP[OY] on left, Zeus seated left holding eagle and scepter; in right field, Corinthian helmet right above MA; under throne, ÐïÁ monogram. Overstruck; traces of undertype visible behind head on obverse and at 3-4 o'clock on reverse edge. Price 1082. Posthumous issue. Beautifully struck on an immense flan. Mint State.
