ABOUT ROB FREEMAN

Rob Freeman has been a collector of ancient coins since the age of ten. This hobby evolved simultaneously with an interest in ancient history and classical languages and, in culmination of these pursuits, he received a degree magna cum laude in History from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983. Rob subsequently pursued post-graduate work in Celtic Studies before joining Numismatic Fine Arts (NFA) in 1985. In his nearly nine years with that prestigious firm, Rob oversaw daily operations, researched and sold coins as well as supervised the production of its world-renowned auction catalogs.

At the end of 1993, Rob resigned his post as NFA's vice-president to form a new company with his longtime friend and colleague David R. Sear. Freeman & Sear quickly gained a reputation for handling coins of incomparable quality and today is one of the preeminent ancient coin dealerships in the world. The firm's regular fixed price lists are considered among the best ever produced in the field of ancient coins.

Rob retains a passion for Celtic numismatics and has published on coins of the Eravisci, a Celtic tribe inhabiting central Europe. He hopes to find time in future to produce a definitive work on the subject.
